La Fontana Belicoso
I find this cigar to be great for me in the morning hours. This cigar is very well made, exceptionally affordable, smokes well and has always been very consistent for me. I have to admit though, I don’t smoke all that often in the morning, but if I do, this is certainly one cigar that I can always count on being right for the occasion. I find it especially pleasing after a big breakfast. This cigar smokes mild and soft for me. It has a certain dryness on my palate with a nice smooth aftertaste.
The shape is wonderful as well. There’s just something about a Belicoso shaped cigar. You know what I mean? This cigar is made with Honduran filler and a very pretty Connecticut Shade wrapper. If you are one of those people that like a sweetened wrapper then you might really enjoy this cigar. However, I must say for me, that whatever sweetness is there at the beginning of this cigar only stays around for a short while. Short like maybe an inch of the cigar tastes sweet to me. Then it seems to fade away. Personally I don’t find that much sweetness in La Fontana cigars like some people do. Some people I know really can taste it, but for me it’s just not that pronounced. As I always say, you be the judge when you smoke one.
La Fontana cigars are made in Honduras at the Tabacos Rancho Jamastran factories owned and operated by Julio and Christian Eiroa, (father and son), located in Danli. In fact, I was quite privileged to be their guest for a week on my recent trip to Honduras. If you like a milder cigar and one that is well made and affordable, then I encourage you to try one of these, especially in the morning. What a great thing to wake up to, huh? Breakfast followed by a La Fontana cigar. The only thing that could make that better would obviously be breakfast in bed!
